Cellular Immunology at Murdoch University

Welcome

Welcome to the website for the Cellular Immunology Group (CIG).  The CIG was established in January, 2008 in the School of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences at Murdoch University by Dr Phil Stumbles, Senior Lecturer in Pathology in the Biomedical Sciences program.  Research in this group is focused on the role of dendritic cells and T cells in the pathogenesis of immune-mediated disorders of the respiratory tract, including allergic asthma and respiratory virus infections such as influenza.  The group also has interests in the new intervention strategies for restoring immune tolerance in allergic and autoimmune disorders and for the prevention and treatment of respiratory viral infections.

Members of the group have close links with researchers at the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research in Perth and collaborate with groups in Switzerland and Portugal.  The group is funded by research grants from the National Health and Medical Research Council, the Australian Research Council and the Asthma Foundation of W.A.

The CIG welcomes all enquires from students interested in a research career in cellular immunology.
