THE AUTONOMIC AND SENSORY NEUROBIOLOGY LABORATORY
WELCOME
The Autonomic and Sensory Neurobiology Laboratory was established at Murdoch University in January 2001, by Dr Jacqueline Phillips. Research in the laboratory focus's on the central control of the circulation, looking at how the nervous system controls blood pressure and how this changes when people have high blood pressure, particularly when it is linked to kidney disease. The research uses a number of tissues and several distinct methodologies. This includes tissues ranging from the brainstem to spinal cord, adrenal gland and kidney, using molecular, immunohistochemical and physiological techniques. We are always keen to talk to students interested in honours, independent study contract or PhD studies. Many of the facilities we use are located in the world-class State Agricultural Biotechnology Centre (SABC) at Murdoch University. Dr Phillips is an Ambassador for Science and belongs to a growing network of Western Australia’s scientists, researchers and fieldworkers from leading scientific organisations.
