Tanya Armstrong

Tanya completed her Bachelor of Science at UWA majoring in Microbiology and Biochemistry/Molecular Biology while working at King Edward Memorial Hospital in the 24 hour pathology laboratory. She graduated and for the next 18 months worked at Ozgene making genetically modified mice.She concentrated mainly on tissue culture, microinjection and mouse work. She then came to the Murdoch parasitology group primarily working on trypanosomes. She is establishing a long term trypanosome culture and efficient drug screening method for Trypanosoma and Giardia. She also is culturing a range of parasites including Echinococcus, Giardia and Trypanosoma. She is interested in drug discovery and would like to learn more about chemical structure and construction of drugs. She is an avid reader, enjoys sewing and collects fairies.
